O Come to the Altar

Are you hurting and broken within?
Overwhelmed by the weight of your sin?
Jesus is calling
Have you come to the end of yourself
Do you thirst for a drink from the well?
Jesus is calling

We live in the world.  The world is a dark place.  In that darkness, we are hurting, lost, confused, conflicted, and scared.  We are full of brokenness, and this is a result of our sin.  This sin is overwhelming us.  We cannot handle this world of utter darkness by ourselves.  We can’t hope to shine on our own in the darkness.  We need Jesus, and lucky for us, He is waiting for us.  Even when we feel like there is no hope.  When we are depressed and it feels like everything is going against us. We have all felt this (or something like it) at some point or another.  It is called struggling.  We desire a solution to solve our problems, to get us out of struggle, and be better.  That solution is Jesus.  He is the only way that we can get out of our mess.

O come to the altar
The Father’s arms are open wide
Forgiveness was bought with
The precious blood of Jesus Christ

Go to God.  Life is a bus.  Life is messy and scary and horrible at times.  Guess what… There is God.  He is waiting.  He is standing there.  He wants you to come to Him with whatever is going on in your life.  He already knows anyway, so you might as well go to Him.  When life is being a torrential downpour, God is the calm of the storm.  Go to God in the storms of your life.  We sin.  We are born into sin.  We can only overcome that with the forgiveness that God lavished upon us because of Jesus Christ.

Leave behind your regrets and mistakes
Come today there’s no reason to wait
Jesus is calling
Bring your sorrows and trade them for joy
From the ashes a new life is born
Jesus is calling

You mess up.  It is part of life.  You probably have regrets that have happened in your life.  It is scary to reveal the mistakes that you have made in life.  It takes a lot of vulnerability to give your regrets to someone, but you should.  Give it all to God.  Jesus died for your regrets.  Nothing that you do is too heinous to be forgiven.  You cannot do anything to separate yourself from His love if you have accepted Him.  The regrets in your life give them to God, and in its place, it can be replaced with the goodness of God.  We are made new because God has added us to His family through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

Oh, what a Savior
Isn’t He wonderful?
Sing hallelujah, Christ is risen
Bow down before Him
For He is Lord of all
Sing Hallelujah, Christ is risen

Bear your cross as you wait for the crown
Tell the world of the treasure you found

Jesus is fantastic.  We can praise Him because He is just so fantastic.  Christ has risen from the dead, and we are forgiven from our sins.  We should praise Him because we don’t deserve the grace that has been lavished upon us.  We don’t deserve to worship such an amazing, merciful, and infinite God.  He is the Lord of everything, and we need to give everything over to Him.  Then, we should be go and sharing what God has been doing in our lives.  We share with others the joys of being part of God’s family.

The word of the day is el altar.  We need to bring our lives, the good and the bad, to God.  Do you bring the good and bad to God?  Do you go to the arms of God when you are feeling broken and destroyed?   Share your thoughts in the comments, and share this blog with others.
